"we almost had the record for most investigators"

hey guys!!

sounds like a great week, good job singing in the primary program nino! wish i could have been there to see it! this week had some really good parts and some pretty crappy parts...

we had a baptism set up on the 27th of septiembre for nicole but it fell through because she is having problems with the government and with a place to live. she lives with some less actives right now but she will be moving in with her boyfriend and his family this week. she is 15 and he is 19.  they already have a baby named emanuel who is 3 months old..... no bueno. we had a marriage date for them set up because that is what they wanted so we made a date for baptism and marriage but fransisco, the boyfriend, backed out and isn't sure if he wants to get married anymore. the problem with that is the law says the guy cant have a girlfriend under 18 if he is 19, which is normal, and since he has a girlfriend under 18 and he is 19, the government is threatening to put him in jail, nicole in a juvenile jail, and the baby in an orphanage if they aren't married or broken up by the end of this week... were praying for them hardcore. also some more bad news, andrea y hector started smoking again so their fecha por baustimo has to be moved back to noviembre... pucha!

on the other hand, we almost had the record for most investigators attending sacrament meeting on one sunday. we had 11 and the record is 12 so after general conference we are going to try to get all 14 of our investigators to sacrament meeting!! we also had 7 new investigators this week and 3 of them are basically golden investigators. one is named luis and lives alone in his bachelor pad. it is a super nice apartment (for chile). he has a gym, huge lcd tv, a gigantic bano and its just really big for and apartment here. he is 36 and knows a little bit about the church and the book of mormon which is golden and we are thinking of giving him a baptismal date at the end of the week if we feel like he is ready, and i think he will be.

the other two are a married couple. juan pablo, and i cant remember his wifes name but she is a less active. she was baptized but hasn't been to church for 20 years! her first time was last sunday and it was a really good meeting. the rama went to the temple in santiago the day before so presidente ortiz had a bunch of people share their testimony of the temple and the blessings that come from attending it. juan pablo and his wife are super nice and always feed us when we go over there ha. the only problem is that he drinks like homer from the simpsons. he always has a becker, thats the budlight of chile, in his hand, but they are both super bakan and nice. we are thinking of putting a bap. date for them in the coming month!!

we had two solid days of good hard rain here so that was awesome. the climate is wierd here though, it was super calor the day before, and then it rained for two days straight and now its hot again ha. its super cold in the mornings and nights still but elder garcia says it will start to get warmer in the next few weeks. summer started here last week by the way.

this week was pretty good overall, nothing crazy happened and it was a lot of work like usual and i love every second of it!

ok now for the questions!

What were you doing floating on a 'river' in that lazy boy chair?
we were cleaning that river up and there just happened to be a sofa in the river so i took a picture on it and then we burned it and threw it in the trash

Where do investigator baptism take place?
most of the capillas in the bigger cities have baptismal fonts so we will do them in our capilla

Someone told us there are a lot of Pachecos in Rancagua, Have you met any?
havent met any pachecos but there is a bakery called pachecos! i have a picture of it

Do you guys cook your own breakfast?  what do you usually make?
we ran out of money last wednesday so we havent been eating breakfast or dinner this week but ya we usually make breakfast and dinner, usually oatmeal, frosted flakes, fruit, or some days nothing, and for dinner is lots of soup and bread. were poor ha

Where do you do your laundry?
we have a laundry machine outside, its in the picture of the room with all the hangars and rope. no one here has driers though so we just hang our clothes out to dry on the lines out front

Have you had an interview with president yet?
we had a super short interview with pres the first day. it was great but super short. the real interviews are next month

Have you had your first zone conference?  tell us about it.
we had our first conference the second day i got here ha. we have about 32 elderes y hermanas in our zona. we meet at the capilla in guadalupe and talk about goals and then have a short class about teaching lessons or individual goals we have they are every wednesday morning and they are super fun actually. its nice to get to speak ingles with the other 5 gringos that are in nuestro zona. the real zone conference for all the missionaries in rancagua is on the 10th de octubre and im hoping ill get to see elder benavides there!!!

Do you hate dogs yet?
absolutley hate dogs with a passion. they crap wherever they want, they bark non stop, and they stink. they are literally everywhere.

What foods do you miss the most from the states?
i miss bacon.

is the fruit in Chile like God's candy?  what do they grow the most of?
the fruit isnt very good in the winter, but in the summer everyone here says its amazong and that everyone just gives us tons and tons of it all the time so im looking forward to that

Everyone wanted to know where all the exercise equipment came from.
our casa is the only casa with a gymnasio and we use it everymorning and its awesome. its small and pretty crappy but hey at least we have a gym!

What is elder garcia's first name and what is his home town?
kevin garcia. born in venezuela, grew up in ecuador

How many elders do you share your "caudrita de temor" with?
elder garcia and i live with two other peruvians, elder ancajima and elder ochoa. they are pretty cool but are a little bit chueco. that means like broken or dont obey all the rules all the time.

Did you ever find the obedience with exactness sign I packed in your suitcase when you left? yes i did and its on my study table right now, thanks for that, i love it

alright guys i love you all and i miss you a ton! glad you all are doing great! love you!

love, elder pacheco
