"this will be the last week I have with Elder Garcia"

mi familia!

sounds like all is well, except for niño, hope you're doing better buddy, good job for being a warrior though!! this week was a lot better than last week. we had a lot more success and we worked harder but it was in a different kind of work. we went to my first zone conference with all the elders y hermanas from san fernando and santa cruz and we were taught that its good to work hard but we also need to have fun while we work. without being excited and motivated or having a little fun, its harder to succeed so we did a lot of random funny things to start conversations, to start helping people, or to introduce ourselves. i always ask people that need help how to say a word in spanish and tell them i'm a gringo from los estados and then we start helping them. we usually just grab the broom, or whatever they are using and just start helping them with whatever it is they are doing and then we just start talking and laughing. we found 6 new investigators this way this week, and we also invited our investigator ignacio (we call him nacho), to be baptized next month! ill send a picture of him next week, hes super bakan and funny. we had 3 investigators at church this sunday which is ok, but we're shooting for 5 next sunday.

during the zone conference i finally got to see elder benavides and it was one of the best days on the mission so far! we hung out all day and had lunch together and just caught up on everything that happened here and back home. it was super awesome to finally get to see him after waiting for so many months! hes doing great, and i hope i can be a missionary like him someday. love you elder benavides!!!!

so this week will be the last week i have with elder garcia.... we have changes next monday, and he has been here in san fernando for 4 months and he is sure he's leaving.... i'm super bummed that hes probably going to go, but there is a small chance he could stay! we work super well together and he has been a great trainer. i'm gonna miss him if he goes. ill let you guys know what happens with changes next week!!

now to answer the questions:

Adam wants to know if you celebrate halloween and what you will be dressing up as this year.
ha. halloween is the same here so yes well be celebrating it and we'll be dressing up as missionaries for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints!!!! best costume ever!

He also wants to know if you've seen any snow yet.
there is pretty much always snow up in the mountains, but not down in the valley in san fernando. summer is starting here too so there wont be any snow on the groing until next june.

Tell us all bout your first zone conference and an experience that stood out to you.
so awesome. i got to see elder benvavides and the demonstration with elder lazerxon and his comp about working hard but working with excitement changed my perspective about the mission. i think that is exactly what i needed since i was a little discouraged the week before, but now that we had the little pep talk, im ready.

Are you speaking only spanish yet?
i only speak english when i see the other elders, at zone meetings on wednesdays, so every other day, yes its only spanish

Do you get to play much soccer these days?
we play soccer every thursday at 7 with the kids for an hour, and after we play with the adults.

What was the most interesting thing you ate this week?
we had the usual chicken and rice, but at the zone conference we had hamburgs which werent wierd,  they were freaking good.

What's the most common lesson you teach?
la restauracion

Are you working with sister missionaries?
no. we only see them on sundays at sacrament meeting or at interviews.

Do you write in your personal journal very often?
i write every night, don't worry.

What do you read every morning for personal study?
i study predicad mi evangelio, the misionaro journal from grandpa hatch which is awesome by the way, thanks grandpa!! and las escrituras por su puesta!

When is Elder Garcia's birthday?
21 de mayo (le gusta los chocolates)

What can we specifically pray for this week?
pray para andrea y hector to stop smoking and meet the requirements for baptism, and for me to become more patient.

bueno mi familia amado, me amo ustedes mucho y yo extraño ustedes mucho tambien. tener un buen semana y compartir sus testimonios con una persona este semana. cada miembro es un misionero tambien. niño, practicar para su mision y ser un niño muy bien!

(hi family that i love, I love you very much and miss you very much as well.  Have a good week and bear your testimonies to somebody this week.  Every member is a missionary too.  Nino, prepare for your mission, and be a good boy).
