"i have learned how to stay happy"

mi familia!

hola familia mia, como estan!?!? im doin great down here. everyday i am coming to love the mission more and more with all the good and not so good experiences i have. this week was a bit of a bummer week. elder ralda and i got a lot of news that wasnt too good....all 3 of our baptisms fell through for this month... victor didnt meet his goal to stop smoking last week, and he told us he feels too pushed by us.

erica is still smoking too and we sort of lost contact with her. she never answers the phone anymore and she is always out of the house or just doesnt anwers the door. aroldo didnt come to church with us this sunday, so he istn ready for baptism either. investigators have to attend church at least 3 times before baptism and aroldo and erica have only come one time, so we will have to wait until at least december to put another baptism date.

the other bad news is that the mission conference fell through too. lame. i was super stoked to go hear 3 general authorities, and to go see all my elders, but well have to wait for that too. it was a tough week this week, as far as investigators and teaching lessons come. i have learned how to stay happy and motivated though, so im doin good with all the not so good news.

the other bad news is that elder ralda is leaving at the end of this week. crazy. hes going back home to guatemala and ill be getting another comp! ill let you know all about him next monday!

even though it was a frustrating week, and a sad week, we are still going to work hard this week to get our investigators ready for baptism on december 20, or 27.

they dont have thanksgiving down here, but we had a little celebration and activity with the zone today in san fernando. we all said what we were thankful for and then we played futbol for 2 hours haha.

now for your questions:

Do you have a CD player?
yes i do and thank you for the cds! you can definitely send more if you want!

What is one of the most important things you've learned from Elder Ralda?
always be excited. good or bad, be excited and smile.

Did you budget your money a little better this month?  Are you eating 3 meals a day?
ha yes mom i learned dont worry, im eating just fine.

Your shoes!:(  Do you have another pair? What do you need as far as shoes/clothing goes?
i got my shoes repaired for 20 bucks at a local shoe store, don't worry. i'm just fine with what i've got here clothing wise, thanks

What kinds of jobs do most people have in San Vicente?
lots of jobs in the fields: picking fruit, planting fruit trees. the people here either work in the fields, drive buses, or don't work at all

Do they have siesta every afternoon for a couple hours?
there is a little break after lunch, but its not really a siesta. everything is still open, the people are just sleeping or too lazy to open the door and talk from about 1 to 4 in the afternoons

Do people drink matte (sp?) Does your mission president let you drink it?
everyone here drinks coffee, tea, and mate, and we can drink the herbal mate, but it tastes like crap. all the peruvians love it but its super bitter and has a terrible aftertaste. no me gusta

Is your apartment comfortable?
Do you get too hot or cold at night? our house is one of the rich houses in the mission. its way comfortable and nice compared to most of the other houses here. im just fine at night

What is the traditional dessert in Rancagua?
sweet bread, fresh fruit and cream, or sopaipias with cream and dessert toppings.
