this week has
been really awesome here in conty. although it was hard leaving san
vicho like i said last week, constitution is freaking awesome. its like
60 degrees during the day and around 55 at night and in the mornings. it
is a lot like california, but in chile ha. it is all hills and
you can see the beach from anywhere in the city, its awesome. the only
thing im worried about here is the tsunamis and earthquakes. the
earthquake and tsunami in 2010 destroyed basicaly everything here and
there is still a lot of rebuilding going on, but its a really cool
little city. there are about 1500 members here but only 100 active.
welcome to chile... we have our work cut out for us.
we have been doing a lot of contacting and visiting as many members as possible so that i can get to know the sector better. the members are so awesome here and its actually a ward not a branch! im stoked about that, and on top of that, we have one of the few patriarchs in chile in our own branch, hermano carlos alegria and he is so awesome. he reminds me of our patriarch, brother allen. he came on divisions with us already and he has such a special spirit about him like all patriarchs do. he has a son serving in cancun mexico right now too. we got to know him pretty well and he is going to keep coming to teach with us over the next few weeks which is a huge blessing for us.
the bishop, obispo cisternas is also really awesome and nice and helpful and its overall a really solid ward down here, i love it. the only problem is that we dont have a ton of investigators right now, but we are working on it. we do have one named maribel though. she is 19 and we set a baptism date with her for the 21st of february and she is super excited and ready for it. all we have to do is get her to church 2 more times and teach word of wisdom and law of chastity and shell be totally ready!
now for my new korean comp: he is way cool and funny, and actually reminds me of elder dylan mcgee. he is tall and skinny and goofy and loud and laughs a lot and is super happy and excited about working. he speaks pretty good spanish already, and speaks fluent english and korean and japanese. the crazy thing is that he lived in england for 3 years and graduated from cambridge university with on a full ride scholarship and a degree in mathematics. he is crazy smart. i like him a lot, we get along great and teach good together.
