hey familia y amigos!,
this
week has been another awesome week with tons of great experiences and
more changes and tons of great learning opportunities. im serving in
santa cruz in the almendroza branch and there are about 55 active
members right now. its pretty small, but the members are great and we
are going to see some big changes here in santa cruz soon. my new comp,
elder perez is awesome, hes from peru, has about 22 months in the
mission already, so he will be going home next change, which means ill
be getting another new comp. 9 comps in 9 months. crazy.
this
week we have been finding tons of new investigators, and so so so many
less active members! we have been able to do a lot of teaching and
pretty much all the people we are teaching right now are progressing
really well. elder perez and i work great together, and its great being
able to serve in and help the zone progress.
how
awesome is it that ty is going to africa!!! congrats primo! hope you
are getting better with your knee mom, sounds pretty miserable, but well
be praying for you down here.
questions:
What
was the thing you remember most about the trek you went on? What was
the spiritual highlight for you?
i remember being able to hang out with rachel and travis and ma and pa olsen and the good times we had together. the most spiritual part is when we had an devotional as a family, and im not exaactly sure what we talked about, but i just remember being so grateful for the pioneers that went through so many hard times and gave us the example to keep enduring and pushing to the end in faith.
Who were the hardest people to say goodbye to in conti?
elder higginbotham and familia ortega, washington ortega and his son rodrigo ortega
What are the best things about your new companion?
he is always happy. full of energy, ready to work, super obedient, great teacher and example, and we connect really well
Can you explain exactly what your responsibilities will be as Zone Leader?
i have to be an example for the zone in teaching and our responsibilities as missionaries, get to know all the missionaries in the zone by doing divisions each week, count and receive all the data from the zone on sundays (all the investigators that are progressing, the less actives, baptisms confirmations, and everyone that has a baptismal date, for the whole zone), i have to make sure all the changes are ready every six weeks, go talk to president at a zone counsel every month and then tell the zone what pres tells us. we also have to have teach an orientation class once a month to help all the elders and hermanas, and then we have to teach a little class every wednesday for zone and district meetings.
How is the Book of Mormon challenge going? What are you reading right now?
its really awesome, i have learned so much and i read whenever i have extra time or study time, im in helaman 7 right now.
What is the teaching pool like in your new area?
we have 4 investigators that we are going to put baptismal dates with and we have about 7 menos activos that we are working with to get reactivated and about two to three new investigators per week
How often do you get to communicate with Pres Warne?
we write him every week on monday, and then when we go to consejo once a month to meet with him
What was the thing that stood out to you most during conference last week?
the overall message i got was that i need to magnify whatever calling i have so that i can always be a worthy priiesthood holder to use the priesthood whenever necessary and to one day become a husband and father and provide for my family
Who would you say is your favorite general authority or who's talks do you love listening to the most?
