"everyone can calm down about the volcanic eruptions"

familia y amigos!

first of all, everyone can calm down about the volcanic eruptions and explosions in chile. don't worry everyone, i'm just fine. there are about 90 active volcanoes in chile right now, but i'm AT LEAST 500 MILES from the nearest volcano. there is a little bit of ash in the air, but i'm in the center of chile and the volcanoes are erupting closer to antarctica, so its all good.

ok now that the volcanoes are out of the way, this week has been another solid week of knocking doors, and inviting everything that moves to get baptized and come to church. 2 people accepted our invitation to get baptizd on the 16th of may, but they didnt come to church this week so we have to move the fechas back to the 23rd now. their names are luis vasquez and jorge perez. ill let you guys know whats goin on with them. unfortunatley veronica told us yesterday that she doesnt want to see us or visit with us anymore because she is going through too many problems. i wish people knew that when we have more problems, we only need to turn to christ more. its hard knowing that this message can help these people and seeing them use their agency to reject it.

this sunday we had district conference and it was amazing. saturday at 6 was the adult session and the district presidency and some of the relief society counselors spoke. the whole theme was the role of families in the church and the things that we need to do as families to reach salvation personally and exhalation as a family. on sunday, we had priesthood session at 9 and then the general session at 11. president warne came to speak at both, and his discursos were awesome. he talked a lot to the menos activos and the weaker families in the gospel and told us how we NEED to have family night EVERY monday and that it is one of the most important and essential family activities, and how we as families need to read the book of mormon together and go to the temple often. im am truly grateful for the example mom and dad set for me to read the bom everyday and to make family home evening a priority of the family. i now have a very strong testimony of the importance of noche de hogar as a family EVERY MONDAY. apply this teaching from the profeta and see the blessings that will come from it.

i have a quick story to tell about divisions we did this week. so i went to a little town called peralillo about 35 minutes from my sector to meet the elders there and to work with their converts and meet the people they are working with. i went with elder hadlock from st george utah (who knows the sumans by the way) and we went to work right when i got there about 12. they have bikes in their sector because it is all country, so we went off contacting and meeting people and working like normal. at about 8 00 we were headed to meet one of their converts, and we had to cross this big  field with a little bridge over a canal of water about 5 feet deep. i saw elder hadlock cross the bridge just fine, so i went after, but half way across the bridge broke and i went head first into the water and soaked everything i had!!! the rest of the night was pretty fun, contacting soaking wet and trying to teach people haha. we couldn't go back home until 9 30, so for that last hour and a half i was soaked and freezing, but it was a hilarious experience. missionary  bike problems. everything ended up just fine, but it was just a funny story that i thought id share ha.
