one more week has already come and gone. we had a sweet zone activity to start the week off right. we found a member here that has an american football, so we played football and then we played soccer on a real full sized city owned field for a few hours. after we ate these mini bratwursts called choripanes here and hung out as a zone. it was a fun, cheap activity and everyone left happy.
as far as
work and investigators go, this week the only investigator we have
finally came to church!! he has a baptismal date for the 12th of
september and if he can come these next two sundays, he will get
baptized! we are working really hard to find some new investigators
right now. its been a hard week with quite a few rejections, but i still
smile and i still love these chileans!!!! for example, we were
contacting and found a house with a huge dog, so we decided to contact
it. some old man came out, so to start the conversation, my comp said
that he liked the dog but before he could finish saying anything else,
the man yelled," well if you like it so much then look at it!!!" and
slammed the door. we stood speechless for a second, then busted up
laughing and continued on haha. good contacts.
questions:
is
the dog repellent working?
ya it works great. the dogs freak out and sprint away most of the time. sometimes they get even more mad though and try to eat us.
how many people do you have at church on a given sunday?
in the winter the average here in san fernando is about 45 people
have you had any dreams in spanish yet?
im only dreaming in spanish, its super cool
are you getting good at soccer?
im pretty bad still, but since my comp played pro, hes been teaching me some stuff when we do zone activities
do you still play soccer with the kids in the winter?
every friday. last friday it was dumping rain and we still played. it was awesome. soccer is life here. it doesnt matter if its scorching hot, freezing cold, or pouring rain.
what kind of cold cereal do they have there?
the only american cereal they have are trix and sometimes we find fruit loops in the bigger stores
how much does a gallon of milk cost in US dollars?
does it taste the same as milk in the US? they only sell milk in liters here but a liter costs about a dollar. its terrible though. really watery and not very white most of the time...
are you back to your pre mission weight?
i haven't weighed myself in about 2 months but im close to where i started
besides walking, what kind of exercise do you do?
pullups and pushups in the mornings and when it warms up outside we go run for 30 minutes.
when's the last time you trimmed your toe nails?
you don't want to know... jk ha

every
week, i realize more and more that i need to enjoy the mission more.
sometime i get down we we get rejected all day, or when we cant find
very many investigators, but i learned with elder silvera that its not a
big deal. there is a goood chance that i will never come back to the
small towns ive served in, so i just need to enjoy my time here, work
hard, and smile as much as possible. one of my new favorite scripture is
in 2 nefi 2:25, men are that they might have joy. real joy comes from
the gospel. thats all there is to it.
be
happy. smile a lot, enjoy what life gives us and we can find the real
joy in things. i love you guys, hope you all have a great week!
love,
elder pacheco
