"don't worry about the earthquakes"

hola,

alright everyone, no need to be worried or anything about the earthquakes. it was actually super cool to feel a real earthquake. the first one was at about 8 on wednesday night, as we were going to a meeting in the church. it lasted for about 6 or 7 seconds is all, but we could see the floor moving like waves and all the power poles and street lights were shaking back and forth. the first one was only a 4.2, but the second one was rated an 8.3 and lasted for almost 15 seconds. it was a lot more noticeable the second time, and it happened in the middle of our meeting! we all just stopped talking and listened to the walls creak and to everything shake outside. nothing happened, we had power and everything like normal, but it made me respect the power of mother nature a little more ha. actually just before i started writing this email, there was a mini tremor that lasted about 10 seconds!

everything is going great with hector, and his baptism is officially scheduled for this saturday, the 26th of septiembre, at 5 in the afternoon. we have been teaching all the basic principles and it has been a little hard for him to understand everything. i have been worrying that he might not be ready, but presidente warne told us that if the people can truly understand and apply the principles of faith and repentance in their own lives, then they are ready and there is no need to worry. even though hector might not understand all the details, he has faith and is applying the atonement in his life so he can be ready this saturday.

things are going good with magdelin and orlando too. they are staying for all 3 hours of church now, and after talking about eternal marriage and the law of chastity two weeks in a row in the gospel principles class, they have put a goal to get married so that magdelin can be baptized by the 10th of october!

so we got changes on saturday and it turns out that i am staying in the same sector, with my same comp, elder silvera, for at least another change. by the end of this change, ill have 9 months in the san fernando zone. its a long time, but im happy with the changes now.

ill let you know how hectors baptism goes next week. thanks for all the emails and support guys! dont worry about the earthquakes either ha! love you all, have a great week!

love,

elder pacheco
