"it is our only job to thank him and help others do the same"

christmas week passed by so fast. it was great to be able to talk to the fam and see everyone after so long. we have been working hard in the sector but haven't had tons of success yet. we will soon though!

i realized that christmas in the mission is a good opportunity to think about the things im grateful for such as my family and my comps here in the mission. my comp and i were able to meet some less actives that have gone through so many problems a while ago and this family helped me realize how blessed i really am. the daughter in this family was born with a spinal problem and since she was born she has gone through more than 12 back surgeries to try to correct all the problems. she has had a few surgeries on her brain and neck and after almost 40 years of surgeries, she is now in a wheelchair for the rest of her life and is just starting to be able to move her legs. as she told us her story and how she overcame all these problems, one after another, i felt like i have had such an easy life and that i have no room to ever complain again. sister maria never complained or whined, she only trusted in her heavenly father and even though she cant walk still, she is so grateful for the blessings and help she received from god.

sometimes we have a tendency to complain easily and instead of being like nephi we are more  like laman and lemuel who constantly forgot about all the blessings they received each day. we as children of a heavenly father receive countless blessings everyday and month and yet we are still so easily moved to complain and give into satans words. many of us think of ourselves like nephi who never complained and always worked so hard, or like the faithful and obedient son in the parable of the prodigal son, when we are actually more like laman and lemuel or the prodigal son. sometimes we can try harder and complain less and work just a little more or be just a little bit more grateful for the blessings we recieve from our father in heaven. i know heavenly father loves and blesses us so much and its our only job to thank him and help others realize and do the same. i love to take a few minutes each night and think about the things i was blessed with and the things i need to do better each day. god is here to help us progress little by little each day and its only possible through him. i hope everyone had a great christmas and i hope everyone has a great new year. love you guys, be safe in mexico!!!
