"im in my new sector called machali"

feliz navidad todos!!!

so crazy to think that its already christmas. 4 more days! i never thought december or this year would pass by so fast, its been insane how fast the time has gone by. im now in my new sector called machali, in the city of rancagua. its a suburb of rancagua, about 10 minutes outside of the big city, and its so awsome. the ward is huge, yesterday 157 people came and on saturday we had a christmas dinner and over 100 showed up. i feel like im back home haha. after being in a branch of 55 people for 7 months a ward of 157 is HUGE. the sector is mostly country and lots of hills. its super pretty when we are up in top of the hills, we can see all the city of rancagua.

this week we have been working on cleaning up the house and the front and back yard, i feel like im back on the lobo crew! we took out 5 trees, all the grass, trimmed all the bushes to the ground and cleaned and painted t he house and now we are going to get back to missionary work. i got to know a few of the investigators here in machali and they are pretty cool. we have 3 baptismal dates for the 16th of january and they are pretty solid dates. the members here are super young and funny and pretty rich so its a big difference from ghetto centinela, but i still miss sanfernando so much.

questions

how was your first experience going to church in machali?
overwhelming. this is one of the only times i've seen a full chapel here in chile, and we even had to open the curtains to the cultural hall!

what is the bishop like? what about the ward mission leader?
he is a young chubby guy with a family of 3. his name obispo alejandro gutierrez and is a super good guy. the mission leader is a skinny tall 22 year old named ariel diaz. he served in brasil 2 years ago no his mission and he is a total nerd, but hes a good kid too.

what is the landscape like in the city?
lots of hills and mountains and tons of country. everyone has horses and property, they are pretty loaded down here

what is elder mesias like?
he is a small funny nerdy peruvian and i love him. he is super smart, already graduated form college with a degree in civil engineering and he is a math profesor! he is 26 and is a really good worker with about a year in the mission.

does he come from an active family?
he is the only member in his whole family, moms side and dads side. he got baptized 2 years ago and came right on the mission. he is incredible. his whole family is evangelical and are super active in the evangelical church and don't support him at all. its super sad to hear him talk about his home life and how his family kicked him out and doesn't support him, but he is a trooper and is super faithful and he knows that one day they will all understand.

is he a hard worker?  super hard worker

what is his best quality?
he is so positive and happy and knows how to get to peoples hearts. he follows the spirit, does what he needs to do , is obedient and diligent and i look up to him a lot for the decision he made to leave his family and come on the mission

did elder salinas stay in san fernando?
ya he is there with another gringo named elder guffey

did you know this is your last christmas away from home????
i can't even believe it......
