"when we woke up on sunday morning it was raining"

buenas tardes familia y amigos!!

this week has been one of the best weeks i've had in a really long time. now that im back in san fernando things are going super smooth and its so awesome to be back in the branch i started in with all the same members as before. and whats even cooler is that they still remember me from almost a year ago!

as far as work goes, we are working with 4 of the same investigators that i was teaching when i got here with elder garcia (who is now assistant to the president). I dont know if you guys remember andrea and hector and their son benjamin, the ones with the little hot dog cart, but we have been teaching them and they have a baptismal date now for the 1st of august. we still need to help them stop smoking, but it wont be hard. they have all the desires to get baptized and come to church and live the gospel, we just have to break this smoking habbit. the other 2 people we are teaching are cristian and margarita, who both have baptismal dates for the 1st of august too. it was so cool to get to meet andrea and hector and cristian and margarita again after so much time, and its even better that i can understand them and respond now haha. we have a few other menos actives that we are teaching (the same ones from when i was here last) and they are progressing better now.

since elder garcia, my trainer, is assistant now, him and his comp, elder primavera, can do divisions with anyone they want, so last thursday after a meeting with president in rancagua, elder garcia came back to do divs with me and it felt like i restarted the mission all over again. we talked to and taught all the same people and all the same dirty little kids in the streets when we started together, and it was so fun. we just laughed and caught up and taught really really well together. that was when we put the baptismal date with andrea and hector and benjamin.

the 4th of july weekend was the same day as the american cup soccer finals and beat argentina 4 to 1 and took 1st place for the 1st time in 100 years!!!! CHI-CHI-CHI-LE-LE-LE VIVA CHILE!!!!! we had to go back inside at 4 because the game started at 5 and it was insanely loud and crazy outside until about 2 in the morning. we were all inside cleaning the house and hanging out and we were also fasting for much needed rain in the area covered by the mission. all the missionaries in the mission, all the members in all the branches and wards in the entire area fasted to break the drought, from saturday to sunday. when we woke up on sunday morning it was raining and it didnt stop until about 6 at night. all the streets were flooded and looked like rivers all day long. that miracle really helped my testimony about fasting and the power that god has. the small things like that show us that he listens to us when we need his help and that he i looking after us. it was pretty incredible and a great experience to fast as a mission and to receive such an immediate and clear answer.

questions:

How many zones are in your mission?  how many have you served in so far?
11 in total and i've served in 3 so far

Tell us about the catholic holiday? Who won the soccer game?
on the holiday, all the streets are filled with crosses and marching bands and tons of false traditions that the chileans have made up, but its cool to see the culture here. it made me think how grateful i am to be a part of this church. Chile won like i said, 4-1 against argentina

Are the missionaries allowed to go to big soccer games?  It seems like there would be a lot of opportunities to share the gospel there... no there is too much apostasy and things that aren't good for missionaries (or anyone else) to see...

What are some interesting facts about elder Tabilo?
he has 1 more change than me (6 weeks) and is a really young good zone leader. he lives in the city closest to peru, he plays guitar really well, and we both love the same music and play the same things on guitar. elder tabilo is always really in tune with the spirit and teaches really well and is relaxed and calm when he does it, but he also teaches with authority and the spirit that he has.

Who are the other missionaries in your apartment and where are they from?
elder cluff from my group in the ccm from gilbert AZ, elder lloyd from idaho, elder adams fro utah, elder collazo from california/mexico, elder womble from colorado, elder panduro from peru,

What's it like living with 7 other guys?
its a blast. we all get along super good and just hang out in the house and talk about mission experiences, share dumb stories, drink mate and eat a ton of food together. its the funnest house i've had in the mission. we are always laughing and smiling and joking around, but the spirit is still in the house with us, its a good balance of both. the house isn't always as clean as we would like, and sometimes it smells funny.....but its awesome

How are your old investigators from san fernando?
they haven't progressed as much as i would have liked to see in the past year, but they are trying hard and doing their best. im way happy to be able to be with them again and help them get in the water asap

What's better a J Dawg or chilean dog?
definitley a j dawg,
