"don't lie or i'll go to hell"

hey!

this week was legit. we were able to do all kinds of divisions and teach a bunch of super good lessons, and we finished the week with a young mens activity that our investigator danilo went to. i went to this little town called chimbarongo with a good friend named elder young from utah and we killed it in chimbarongo together. we worked hard, rode a good 5 miles on bike to find a family out in the middle of nowhere and teach them a crazy good lesson about the restoration, and then we went and taught another investigator they have in chimbarongo named luis who is going to get baptized in december. the spirit was strong in both the lessons we taught and we got some good pictures out in the country ill send wheni get them from elder young.

we have been teaching danilo a lot this week, and focusing pretty much all our efforts on him so that he can be totally ready for his baptism on december 12. we have taught him all the basic lessons and all the required lessons to be able to get baptized, the only thing he lacks is coming to church 2 more times and then he will be listo. he has shown us that he really has a testimony and that he has real desires to follow christ. everyone in the branch knows him and thinks he is great, its almost like he is already a member. its been so cool to see him progress these last few weeks and im stoked to see him finaly get baptized. on the 8th of december, the branch is going to the santiago temple and danilo is going to get to go with the branch. even though he cant go inside yet, he will be able to feel the spirit in the gardens outside and i know that it will be a big testimony builder for him.

on saturday, we got invited to a young mens activity in the branch. we met the young mens president, hermano vivanco at his house at 8 and then went and gathered all the young men together. by 9 there were about 12 of us all inviting other young men and friends, all walking in the street and laughing and joking around together, and we on our way to the church, we bought ingredients to make a buttload of pancakes and have a pancake eating contest. it was a blast ane we all got covered in eggs an flour and pancake mix. in the end we played ping pong and cleaned up and all headed to lunch. it was probablyone of the best activities ive had here in chile, and the best part was that danilo participated and all the other young men included him and are now all good friends. i felt like i was right back at home in a mutual activity just like the good ole days in queen creek.

questions:

Still waiting for an experience with the sisters in your zone.  have you thought of one?
nothing too crazy has happened with the hermanas this week actually. ill let you know when something happens.

What is the last thing that made you laugh?
this morning we all played volleyball and soccer as a zone and then ate choripanes after and all laughed and had a good time together. choripan is a mini  bratworst in some chilean hot dog bun bread with mayo and ketchup and usually spicy salsa. chorizo is meat, pan is bread so put together its choripan.

What was the best thing about your last zone conference?
a couple that used to be mission president in viƱa del mar came to teach us all about preach my gospel and how to be better teachers and how to really apply the gospel to our investigators better. they were super direct and straightforward like elder holland, but the spirit was so strong and we all heard exactly what we needed to hear to improve.

What was the most recent service you gave a member or investigator?
the other day we went to cut a bunch of grass and clean up a front yard (just like lobonation) and we found a dead cat and the member asked us if we could bury it and have a funeral for it, so we did. r.i.p gatito.

Do you ever see the couple who owns the hot dog cart back from the first area of your mission?  What are they doing these days?
im able to see them almost everyday still, their names are andrea and hector and benjamin. they are slowly progressing, slowly quiting smoking and are trying hard to get baptized. they know this is the true church, they just have a hard time coming in the mornings and they need to get married and stop smoking.

Is it hot and humid now?
its about 90 in the day but nice and cool in the morning and nights

On a scale from 1 to 10 how much do you want to visit machu pichu?
10 i think that would be way cool.

Are you exercising and drinking lots of water?
lots of juice and water and 30 minutes of exercises every morning

Do you feel like you have enough energy to accomplish the tasks of each day?
ya it would be nice to sleep a little more, but i guess sleep can wait til after the mission

What is the most important thing Sister Warne has taught you?
don't lie or i'll go to hell, keep the house clean and organized like the temple is, even though its hard sometimes, keep on enduring and it will all work out

Have you met Elder Brower yet?
no i've still never heard of him. i don't think he's in this mission.

What did you pull out of your quote jar this morning and who was it from?
a quote from deanna about when brax and i almost got eaten by the misterious bear in the woods. she reminded me to never forget to pray and to be like little children and turn to heavenly father for everything. she also made me laugh pretty hard to myself ha.

How will you be spending thanksgiving this year?
they don't do anything here for thanksgiving, but i live in a house with 5 other gringos so i'm sure we will make a small dinner to celebrate between us.

hope everyone has a happy thanksgiving!
love you.

love elder pacheco
